Performer.Composer. Educator.

Harrington's interest in music performance began at an early age. After taking piano lessons in elementary school, his interest then turned towards playing guitar and electronic sample-based music before rediscovering his love for piano at a later age. After graduating from high school in 2010, Harrington spent five formative years pursuing his music and working in Minneapolis, Minnesota and then subsequently in Asheville, North Carolina. After returning to school, he graduated summa cum laude from UNC-Asheville in May of 2020 with both a B.F.A. in Jazz in Contemporary Music Performance and B.A. in History. Harrington studied with pianist Dr. Bill Bares while at UNC-Asheville.

While in Asheville, Harrington played in a number of groups including the Joey Harrington Trio, the Wayne Banks Trio, Less Poets, Vermillion Quartet, and the punk band the Mouthbreathers. In 2019, Harrington recorded a jazz trio album as leader, Lipinsky Sessions. During that time, Harrington was a regular performer at venues throughout Western North Carolina including the Asheville Beauty Academy, Save Me The Waltz, The White Horse, The Mothlight, Oskar Blues Brewery, The Asheville Club, the Local 604, the 305 Lounge, Zambra, The Social Lounge, and Southern Appalachian Brewery among others. His performing schedule included various residencies at venues including Antidote, the Asheville Club, Appalachian Coffee, and the Battery Park Wine Bar where he held a two year weekly residence with the Vermillion Quartet.

During the Covid pandemic, Harrington relocated to the New River Valley with his partner, Bow, who was pursuing her graduate studies at Virginia Tech. Harrington began performing around the New River Valley in 2022, from private concerts at Virginia Tech to performances at various venues, wineries, and breweries. While in the New River Valley, Harrington worked as the full time pianist and organist for the Presbyterian Church of Radford in addition to completing a Masters at Radford University in classical music composition and classical piano performance.

In 2023, Harrington founded TEND, an experimental multimedia performance project in collaboration with various visual artists in the New River Valley. TEND has performed at venues across the southeast including Art Rat in Roanoke, VA, Blackbird in Richmond, VA, and Static Age Records in Asheville, NC among other venues.

Harrington and his partner relocated to New York City in August of 2024 where Harrington will pursue a M.M. in Jazz Studies at NYU.
